620 AM The Buzz to remain flagship station for Duke athletics
Aug 2, 2010
Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC) has announced that 620 The Buzz (WDNC) has signed a multi-year contract with ISP Sports to remain the Triangle’s flagship station for Duke University Athletics.
In addition to men’s basketball and football broadcasts with Hall of Fame play-by-play announcer Bob Harris, 620 The Buzz will also continue to carry Duke Women’s basketball, the Duke Men’s Basketball Show, The David Cutcliffe Show, The Coach P Show (Women’s basketball) and The Kevin White Show (Duke University Athletics Director).
"We are pleased to continue the tremendous association between Duke Athletics and WDNC,” said Johnny Moore, president of Blue Devils/ISP Sports. “These two great institutions have been together for so long now that they have almost become synonymous with each other. When you want to listen to Duke Athletics in this community, you automatically tune your radio to 620 AM. The university and its fans are fortunate to have a hometown station like WDNC."
The new multi-year contract adds to a relationship between 620 AM and Duke University Athletics that began more than 60 years ago in the late 1940’s when the AM channel first partnered with the Blue Devils athletics program.
“The opportunity to continue this long standing relationship with Duke University Athletics is very exciting,” said Brian Maloney, general manager of CBC’s sports properties. “For decades, Duke fans have tuned in to WDNC for Duke sports coverage. It’s wonderful to see that tradition continue for both the fans and community as a whole”.
Terms of the agreement between Capitol Broadcasting Company and ISP Sports have not been disclosed.
