The jokes are already piling up.
Duke's season tickets are selling out because Alabama fans want to ensure a seat for the Sept. 18 game at Wallace Wade.
There won't be a spike in Durham hotels because Alabama fans will just drive their homes (RVs) to the game.
After this Saturday's ACC opener at Wake Forest, Duke will host the defending national champions in two weeks.
The Crimson Tide will be fresh off of huge game against Penn State. Heisman winner Mark Ingram should be healthy enough to play. A sea of red will invade Durham. A national champion will play on the road at a school that just recently had four wins in a span of four seasons.
"I think they all without question realize that the bigger game of the two is Wake Forest. This is conference play. This is a rival. Everything is riding on this for us," Cutcliffe told Mark and Mike on 620 The Buzz. "It doesn't get any bigger than this for us. This is huge. We haven't beaten them since 1999. That's a serious streak."
Now staying focused on the game at hand becomes the task for Duke's coaches.
"They'll certainly be asked about it [Alabama] by classmates and even family is already talking to them about tickets," Cutcliffe said.
Cutcliffe said that tickets are one of the biggest distractions a player will face, and he discussed it with his players in a meeting on Sunday.
Wake Forest faces a similar task as it heads on the road to play Stanford the following week. But head coach Jim Grobe isn't worried about his teams overlooking an important home game either.
"Just by experience our players know how tough the Duke game has always been for us," Grobe said Tuesday on 620 The Buzz. "We're in a situation where it doesn't matter if it's Duke, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech...it really doesn't matter. From here on out everybody we're gonna be playing is pretty good."
Wake Forest will try to extend its winning streak over Duke to 11 games. Grobe has not lost to the Blue Devils as a head coach.

Don't you mean "A tide of crimson will invade Durham"?
I translate Crimson Tide into Red Tide which is toxic algae. That is how I will think of Alabama. Go Duck!
This is how you can think of Alabama.....
Greatest football program of all time......You here people talk about Florida, Miami at one time, or even Florida State with Bobby Bowden and all his victories, Penn State, Michigan.......Throw Texas or USC (Southern Cal) in thier also if you like, but no one has the tradition and Championships like the Alabama Crimson Tide.....
The only team that might rival them is Notre Dame.....
Roll Tide Roll.......
