Durham, N.C. — The Duke men's lacrosse team will take the No. 1 overall seed into the NCAA Tournament when it begins later this week. The Blue Devils (13-3, 4-1 ACC) are the defending national champions, but they needed an at-large bid to make the tournament, having lost to Syracuse in the ACC Tournament semifinals.
The road to a repeat will begin Sunday in Durham, when Duke hosts the winner of a play-in game Wednesday between Air Force and Richmond at 5:15 p.m. (ESPNU).
All six ACC men's lacrosse teams made the tournament. Syracuse (11-4, 2-3), losers to Notre Dame in the conference tournament championship game, got a No. 2 seed. They will meet the winner of Bryant and Siena Sunday in the Carrier Dome. The Irish (9-5, 2-3) are a 6 seed and will host Harvard (10-6) at Arlotta Stadium at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The University of North Carolina (10-4, 2-3) starts the postseason on the road Saturday at Denver (7:30 p.m., ESPNU).
The NCAA men's lacrosse championship is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 26 in Maryland.
