ECU suspends NT Williams indefinitely

— East Carolina junior nose tackle Terry Williams has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team policy according to an announcement from head football coach Ruffin McNeill Tuesday afternoon.

“The expectation for every member of our program has always been that they must earn the right to represent East Carolina University and that they will be held accountable for their actions on and off the field,” McNeill said. The fourth-year ECU head coach did not address specifics of the suspension, but added that Williams “did not adhere to the conduct standards we have in place.”

Williams, a two-year starter on the Pirates' front line, has recorded nine tackles and half a sack in his first three games of the 2013 season. McNeill indicated junior Chrishon Rose would take over the starting role in Williams' absence.

East Carolina (2-1) will return to action Saturday when it faces North Carolina (1-2) at Kenan Stadium beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Excellent commentary, really added to the football discussion in this thread.

Alex, is UNC a dry campus now?

It's obvious that you cannot come up with any intellegent posts on your own so why bother wasting everybody's time with your garbage?

That is funny. In 2008 (I believe) we came into Carter Finley 3-0 and ranked 12th in the nation after having upset #17 VT and #8 WVU. NCSU had a 1-3 record and hadn't beaten a division 1 team in about a year. You guys upset us that day. We had everything to lose by playing you that game, but we played it, so stop with the excuses.

The cupcake schedule you guys play has got to go. I didn't realize Louisiana Tech was as big a name as Alabama.

And yet your former AD talked in the press about how ECU fans helped pay for Carter-Finley with all the tickets sold in that series in the 70's and 80's.

Go ahead and play every cupcake you can, since you're afraid to play real teams unless the conference makes you. And quit looking down your nose at us, just look the other way if you can't. No one at ECU needs NCSU's acceptance, believe me.

I was thinking the same thing. It was started by that Truth poster, I'm not even sure which team (s)he is a fan of. I'm betting the Pack.

Not sure why it worries him/her so much, though.

Looks like the only one "chapped" here is you.

Story has nothing to do with where the games are played. Not sure why it worries you so much.

    I did my research, palooka.

When the series resumed in 2001, it was in Chapped Hole, then in Greenville in 03. And again in Greenville in 07. Back-to-back, yes, but also separated by four years.

Since then, I see two games in Chapped Hole (09 and 10). One in Greenville in 11. And 12 and 13 back in Chapped Hole.

Just addressing the last statement about the schools supporting ECU to the ACC... that isn't going to happen, and it has nothing to do with what State and Carolina want or don't want. The REST of the ACC doesn't want a fifth team from North Carolina in our conference. I believe they already think North Carolina teams get too many benefits by having four teams here (ACC tournaments in Greensboro and Charlotte, ACC football championships in Charlotte, etc.) Some would prefer more schools from their own state than another from ours.

Also, the conference realignment is mostly about money, and if we're adding teams, it will be teams in NEW television markets. We (the ACC) want to expand into new markets, not add more teams for localized rivalries in NC.

No. We played them again in 2010 in Greenville. Please try again.

We played ECU every year from 1970-1987 until they tore down our own goalposts and we canceled the series. We have played them eight times since the series resumed in 1996.

Of those eight games, only four were in Raleigh. One was in Charlotte, and three were in Greenville.

And this year, the game is in Raleigh.

Too bad UNC doesn't have to play Clemson or FSU. If they did they might have a sub 500 conference record. May happen anyway with the way they played GT in the second half. Love to see the cat fight between some of these people. When any team from NC can beat an SEC team, Clemson, or FSU then talk otherwise just keep the cat fight going.
