RE: Is this forum really necessary?
Actually there is "one program in the state that is head and shoulders above the rest" when it comes to football. It's not in the ACC, C-USA or any FBS conference. It's in the FCS and they've won bunches of Southern Conference championships and three national championships since 1998.

Find a FCS board to talk about FCS football on it. This board discusses FBS football. I understand that ASU wants to move up to FBS so I feel for you on that subject and I hope you guys make it to FBS but until then you don't fit in this discussion that we are having.
See you on September 1 in Dowdy Ficklen Stadium.

TerrorOnTheHighSeas- I'm not sure where the attitude comes from, surely you aren't a native North Carolinian. Where exactly does it say these forums are limited to FBS schools and excludes FCS? My point was that ASU stands out as far as college programs in NC and I don't think that can be disputed. They win on the field on a regular basis and have at times dominated the nation in that regard. Sure many of their athletes aren't at the same level as many FBS schools but then if they had the same number of scholarships and played at the FCS level given the adminstration and coaching competence that is established there those player may well come there to play. Regardless, at the present time Boone seems to be where the best football is played in these parts. And remember that you don't have to pull for just one team so the comment about seeing how things turn out on Sept. 1st doesn't really hurt my feeling much. I'm also a Pirate fan and given the fact that most of my income and all of my borrowing power for the next four to five years will be directed to Greenville i'll probably be pulling for ECU but content with a really good game either way.

I was thinking the same thing. "is this forum really necessary."

They are like that show swamp people. Those fans live in the swamps way down in eastern NC down east.

Funny I was in Garner today and shopping for college supplies for my child and I didn't see any NC State, Duke, or Carolina tshirts. While that did seem kind of odd, being that I was in the triange I saw three or four ECU tshirts and talked with a family that was also shopping for college dorm supplies. Where was the recent Garner graduate going to school? You guessed it, like us, ECU. Many seem to forget that ECU enrollment is just less that NC State and about the same as UNC CH. That translates to a lot of fans, including fans in the triangle and Charlotte areas.

Ok cool. Then why is it that their fanbase doesn't post on here like UNC or NCSU or Duke fans? Are they computer illiterate?

"Ok cool. Then why is it that their fanbase doesn't post on here like UNC or NCSU or Duke fans? Are they computer illiterate?"
No...it's because WRAL rarely posts any stories regarding ECU and when they do, the story is done in a way to cast ECU in a negative light. Look at the last two stories posted about ECU...there's almost a month in between. Not many people will religiously check a website that rarely posts anything about their school and what does get posted is bad press.
On the same note, go on an eastern NC news website like WITN.com and see how many people comment on an NC State or UNC story there. There are fewer comments than there are on WRAL stories about ECU....

Don't mind Fzero, he's a hateful little woofie that has a serious case of the inferiority complex. Apparently it is with UNC and ECU. Poor little fella can't handle it when someone makes a comment that may reference the school he undoubtedly did NOT attend. Just feel sorry for him, ignore him or let him know he is a tool box. Any of those options work. Be careful though, he'll hit the report button on you for breathing. It's because he gets so hot and bothered so easily. ECU>ncstate.
RE: Is this forum really necessary?
About as necessary as it is for an athlete to show up for an AA class in order to get a passing grade.
A Duke Loss Is Better Than A Carolina Win Anyday
Oh I forgot, GO LEHIGH.....er.... I mean UNC

I was going to answer Butler High School, but Butler's competetion is better than the Southern Conference.
RE: Is this forum really necessary?
This forum provides an excellent opportunity for Pirate fans to provide the wolffies regular reality checks. For example, 1983 was a banner year for Pack basketball -- but since that time, ECU owns an 8-6 head-to-head record against their football team...something they (wolffies) prefer not to talk about.
