I have heard that we could possibly be going to the BE in 2013

If SDSU stays we will be picking up Boise State's schedule next year. I have heard it from a reliable person with first hand knowledge.

The C7 are looking to get out of the conference ASAP

If SDSU is accepted back in the MWC (they can leave the BE without penalty, now that Boise has backed out) they will have 12 schools. They may not want more, which leaves Houston and SMU in a 10 team Big East.

Those schools are: UConn, Cincy, Temple, USF, UCF, Tulane, ECU, Houston, SMU and Memphis. That's not all that bad. They would be in the mix with the MWC for the automatic BCS bid that goes to the highest ranked conference champ outside the Big Five.

If UConn were to snag its desired invitation to the ACC, they could be replaced by UAB. Still not a bad league. It would be essentially what CUSA was several years ago but with a new name.

It is pretty obvious that ECU going all sports rather than football only is merely a formality. The big question is what will the football playing version of the BE be by the time the Pirates get there? BSU is gone, there is some talk that Houston and SMU may defect to the MWC, UC and UConn could decide to go with the C7 for all but football and play as football independents with the hope of being called up to the ACC in a couple of years. Who knows what will happen but regardless it should be better than staying in C-USA.

Boise just announced that they will be staying in the Mountain West. No big surprise there. I expect we'll hear the same from SDSU any day.

Lawsuits and buyouts must be settled. Each school must try to give a two year notice or schedule schools from their old conference to smooth the change.

It said that talks were in progress with the SBC to get the teams in sooner than 2014. If those two teams get added for 2013 or we are going to have a 9 team division.

All I am saying is that if this is truly going on now, then other moves from conferences above ours are probably happening too. i.e. Maryland and Rutgers to the B1g 10 in 2013. Louisville and the other BE teams to the ACC,etc....

Heard nothing like that in Greenville or on Campus. Can't see it happening as ECU will be a football only school. ECU must find a home for the other 18 sports programs. And if someone was to say "No later than 2014" don't mean the schools will come into the conference a year sooner

It is my understanding from some people at FAU and MTSU that they are negotiating with CUSA and the Sun Belt to join CUSA in 2013. It is sounding like the BE is needing Tulane and ECU to start next year. I am also assuming the Big 10 is pushing for people Maryland to start and the ACC is pushing for its other BE invitees to start sooner.

It all started from an interview by Britton Banowski in the El Pasoan where is said, "Middle Tennessee and Florida Atlantic will join the league no later than the 2014-15 season, though C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky indicated there are ongoing talks with the Sun Belt that could have them joining sooner."

We'll see. There is some reading in between the lines. I am assuming the reason for the addition is to save the BE BCS bid. I don't know. If this is true then we have to get Mitchell out of town asap or we are in for a world of hurt next year.
