Is it time to get a new defensive coordinator?
After three years of horrid defense, I think it is time to release Brian Mitchell as the DC. He is a good guy, but not a good DC.
After our failure to defend the read option correctly it is 100% obvious that coaching is the problem.
What do the other ECU faithful or those that have observed ECU's defense think?
RE: Is it time to get a new defensive coordinator?
Anyone heard anything about Terry Holland meeting with Ruff? If Ruff keeps Mitchell then it proves that he shouldn't be a head coach.
Marshall fired their DC the day after we beat them. Had they had a good defensive coordinator they probably could have won the east. I am not sure why we are not following suit.

You got your wish. Now let's hope the problem was coaching and not just inferior talent.

We will see if that was the case now Ken. I am sure it was coaching. Rumor is that Hudson has been back to Greenville recently.

Someone tell us about Hudson.

His Wiki page says that he is no longer with FSU, and is the new DC at Purdue. Don't know if that is accurate. However, ESPN says he will "reportedly" be the new DC (Purdue just hired the Kent State coach as their new HC). Also, several FSU sites report that he has accepted Purdue's offer.

Okay, hate that he got away given the good things I was hearing about him. But this is the hiring season isn't it? I imagine there are lots of DC that are looking to move up in the pecking order from smaller programs or postion coaches at bigger programs looking to move into a DC job that are full of promise.
RE: Is it time to get a new defensive coordinator?
It appears now that former Miami HC Randy Shannon and current Arkansas LB coach (just hired) is the leading candidate to become our new DC.

I heard that too Pirates. I hope that is true, because it will be a quality hire.
