I'm glad they went ahead and announced the all sports bid. Now if they will come up with a name for the conference that would be nice. One headline called it the Leftovers of the Big East conference. That is not good. I have heard on some of the message boards, American 12, and Metro or some variation of that but who knows?

I think it is assured that ECU gets the all sports bid, they just have to wait until the C7 are officially out before that can proceed. I don't think 2013 is in the picture but who knows. Besides the 1.8 tv contract word is that each of the new schools will get 1 million in the first year from the league as a part of the settlement with the C7. USF, UCONN, and UC will split the bulk of the money, 18 million I believe. Hopefully the new additions will have their entry fee waived completely, or significantly reduced since the conference is significantly different from what it was suppose to be when they joined. I don't think the contract allows for this but it would be a nice concession to the newbies since the three current members are going to reap a very significant $$$$ harvest with the split and earlier exit fees.

My understanding is that they do get the bid, for this one year only. After that, they go into the pool with the other non-power conferences.

    Hey Ken,

Every Pirate that responds here pays attention during football season. AFter that it is crickets in this forum.

We were getting 1 million a year from CUSA. I have to look at the numbers again, but I thought we were getting 1.8 million a year in the Big East. As much as I dislike ESPN, they have a Lion's share of the college football market, so we will get more exposure. I also think that games that ESPN doesn't pick up can be picked up by other networks which could provide us some extra money.

If we are in for 2013, then my biggest concern is does the nBE champion go get the BCS bid? We will essentially be a new conference.

I'm just glad to see there are still a few people who look at this forum. With the exception of a single post by some guy named savannarihanna, we were 0-for-February.

I see that the nBE (whatever their new name will be) will have a TV contract worth less than $1.5million per school each year. How does that compare with C-USA's old contract? Did the Pirates get an upgrade?

I am hearing that with the C7 now buying the Big East name and starting their new league on July 1st of this year that we will be offered an all sports invite very shortly to join in 2013.

The nBE met in Dallas on Friday but it doesn't appear many answers were to be had. SDSU has until some time in February to say if they were still coming on board or going back to the MWC. There were no TV contract announcements but when you don't know who exactly are going to be in the conference I guess that makes sense. I had hoped ECU would be upgraded from FB only to all sports but nothing was said in that regard. I can't imagine that not happening though. I just wish it would go ahead and happen.
