    Congrats Coach Lebo...awarded 2-year extension!!!

GREENVILLE - East Carolina announced a two-year extension of head men's basketball coach Jeff Lebo's contract that will secure his position through the 2020-21 season. The new agreement, approved by the University's Board of Trustees and announced by ECU Director of Athletics Jeff Compher Monday, extends Lebo's existing contract to April 15, 2021.

In nearly four years at the helm of the program, Lebo has guided ECU to a multitude of firsts. Last season, he directed the program's first 20-win season at the Division I level, guided the team to its first-ever postseason championship and coached the Pirates to their only winning Conference USA record.

Lebo, a former UNC guard, reached 60 victories faster than any other coach in the 81-year history of ECU basketball and recently became the second-fastest to 70 wins with the Pirates' 75-68 triumph over Louisiana Tech this past Thursday. His 71 victories also currently rank third among Pirate coaches.

Those victories also represent the most successful four-year period in East Carolina's Division I history and second-most wins during that time frame overall...

Wonder what Lebo could do with an athletic budget completely focuse on basketball? Just not impressed with a one trick pony!

Imagine what Lebo could do with no-show classes and a Pirate's version of the "wheels for heels" program. Maybe ECU can call it "trucks for Bucs".

What a dumb*ss! Roy will never be let go! He calls the shots! Lebo is doing a great job at ECU and I hope he builds the program up and keeps them playing at a high level for years to come.

I read this one too. Lebo is a hard worker and it's paying off now. I have no clue what he says to recruits, but he did a solid job in his interviews last season. He projects very well.

Lebo pulled in two HUGE recruits this weekend. One is a 4* ESPN Top 100 point guard, he's 96th overall and the 22nd best pg, and 6'7" 3* forward. Right now ECU has the 36th best recruiting class with a couple more 4*'s highly considering ECU.

Lebo has definitely done the job at ECU. I believe they will obtain a NCAA tourney berth. When Roy retires, he will be one of the 1st they call. UNC is the big time and he would jump for this one.

If by "let go" you mean when Williams retires, I'm sure Lebo would be considered, especially if he manages to get the Pirates into the NCAAT. That latter part is no slam dunk.

If, instead of being considered for the UNC job, he is approached by a struggling program on the brink of collapse, there would be nothing to gain for Lebo. He would have already shown he can resurrect a program if he gets ECU to the NCAAT.

Lebo is perfect for ECU and I have no doubt he will have his team playing in the NCAAT within 3 years. Question is...will he accept the job at UNC when Williams is let go or will he remain at ECU? Lebo strikes me as a man who would relish the challenge of building his own dynasty as opposed to taking on a struggling program that appears to be on the brink of collapse. Speculation, of course.
