ECU is in their last year with C-USA. Their tv contract put them on one of the seldom seen sports channels, CBSSN for the game against Marshall. So you are correct, ECU isn't going to draw much of an audience in that situation. However, next year the Pirates will be in the American and the AAC has a contract with ESPN. Lets see how they draw when they are shown on a major sports cable outlet. My guess is that they will do well, especially with games against teams like Cincy, UCF and SMU. Never underestimate a pirate.

Earth to ACC Nation, Not for ACC draw but for one of the best teams in this State.

Message to earth. ECU is not a great sports draw for TV. Maybe in 15 years if their new conference survives and does well. They are not ready for the big time quite yet.

Marshall beat us down. It was much deserved. They were the better team and I think we will come away better having been beaten like this.

I'm a State guy looking for this game on the tube, what the heck it's not on. I can't believe it. This would be a great tv game!!!!!!Upset NCSU Alumni.

You're right. I think it is going to be a close game and I worried about or lack of kicking game. I'll just be happy with a win.

If the Pirates can play well and not mess things up on offense like penalties and turn the ball over -- I think they have a very good shot to win. I'm just not ready to predict or bet on that. I would however take the "over" in points -- if I was a betting man ??

While I think this will be a tough game I think their defense is not as good as ours.

The difference in the kicking game is probably why Marshall is a 3 pt favorite.

Our kicking game frightens me too. It says a lot when Ruff goes for it on fourth down at the 25 or 30 yard line and beyond. that is the weakness of our team that will certainly be exploited by our upcoming foes. In a close game that is what will make the difference.

I know that kickers can become head cases, but their has to come a point when you face down your fear of missing the field goal and say that, "I am going to kick it through the uprights." Either the kid hasn't faced a lot of adversity or been put in enough hard situations in life or he just isn't a good kicker. I don't know what it is.

I think the ECU - Marshall game this next Friday has the making of another instant classic. Just as the triple OT game was last year in Greenville. I have watched Marshall play at least 4 games this year. They are the exact mirror image of ECU.

Both teams have a great QB and explosive offense that can score quickly and often. Rakeem Cato is a little more of a threat to run, but not as accurate of a passer as Carden. Both defenses are pretty poor , but can occasionally make plays. I feel the key to this game will be which defense is able to make a play in order to stop the other team's offensive possession, or at least force a field goal instead of a TD. The other key will be if ECU's offense can move the ball without stupid penalties or the dreaded turnover -- basically, are we going to beat ourselves. With all things being pretty much even, ECU should be able to come away with the victory and play in the CUSA Championship in Greenville !!

The only thing that really scares me to death is ECU's kicking game (or the lack thereof). If the game is close and it comes down to a field goal to either win or tie to go to overtime -- we are in big trouble. Just like what happened at Tulane this year. Let's hope we can either score TD's and not have to kick a 38 yard or beyond FG, or we're able to convert on 4th and 2 from the 20 like we did at NC State.

They were resting many of the starters during the latter part of the 4th quarter when the pack was able to move the ball and score.

In our favor, Marshall is playing a night game in Miami so they are going to lose a whole day of practice and film.

We can't play soft like we did midway through the fourth quarter.

The Pirates have a short week before the travel to West Virginia to play for the eastern crown and the right to play in the CCG. It should be a heck of a game. Marshall puts up numbers similar to ECU and like the pirates have an outstanding QB.
