NOTES:The PGA Tour travels to California this week for the first event of the
2013-14 season, the Frys.com Open. Three of the top 35 players in the world are in the field - Hideki Matsuyama (30), defending champion Jonas Blixt (34) and Billy Horschel (35).

Matsuyama was part of the International team at last week's Presidents Cup. Other members of the International team playing this week are Angel Cabrera and Marc Leishman.

This tournament is being held at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, California, for the fourth straight year. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1999. Located 30 minutes south of San Jose, CordeValle was named No. 7 on the list of best courses you can play in California by Golfweek magazine in 2010. The first three years of the event were staged at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Blixt carded four rounds in the 60s in 2012 to earn his first PGA Tour title. He earned a 1-stroke win over Tim Petrovic and Jason Kokrak. The Swede finished at 16-under-par 268. Blixt converted all 47 chances inside five feet for the week.

In 2011, Bryce Molder emerged from a 6-hole playoff with a winning birdie on the 18th hole to beat third-round leader Briny Baird and win for the first time on the PGA Tour. The Arkansas native shot a 7-under 64 in the final round to finish 72 holes at 17-under 267 along with Baird. A four-time first-team All-American and teammate of Matt Kuchar at Georgia, Molder has spent a considerable portion of his early career on the Web.com Tour.

Rocco Mediate holed out for an eagle in every round in 2010, and he needed every one of those strokes to earn the victory. After coughing up a 3- stroke lead in the final round, Mediate birdied 16 and holed out for eagle on 17 to shoot 2-over 73. It was good enough to give him a 1-stroke win at 15-under-par 269 over Alex Prugh and Bo Van Pelt. Mediate won in wire-to-wire fashion, as he fired rounds of 64-65-67 over the first three days.

In 2009, Troy Matteson birdied the second playoff hole to defeat Rickie Fowler and Jamie Lovemark. Matteson opened with a 2-over par 72 in the first round, but fired consecutive course record-tying 61s in the second and third rounds to surge in front. He closed with a final-round 68 to finish at 18- under-par 262 with Fowler and Lovemark. The victory was Matteson's second on the PGA Tour and first since 2006.

Mike Weir returned to the winner's circle for the first time in over three years, as he carded rounds of 69-64-65-68 to win by a stroke in 2007. The Canadian finished at 14-under-par 266, which was good for the victory over Mark Hensby.

The PGA Tour moves to Las Vegas next week for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, where Ryan Moore captured the 2012 title.
