Kaymer jumps to No. 11 with U.S. Open win

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Martin Kaymer ran away with his first U.S. Open Championship and his second career major victory Sunday, vaulting him up 17 spots in the official world golf rankings to No. 11.

Kaymer, who became the first player ever to win the U.S. Open and the Players Championship in the same year, was the 28th ranked player in the world heading into the year's second major. Kaymer also won the PGA Championship back in 2010.

Atop the rankings, things remained the same as Australian Adam Scott is still the world's No. 1 ranked player, followed by Henrik Stenson, Bubba Watson, Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar.

Rory McIlroy stayed put at No. 6, while Jason Day and Sergio Garcia remained at No. 7 and 8, respectively. Jordan Spieth leapfrogged Justin Rose into the No. 9 spot as Rose fell one spot to No. 10.

After Kaymer at No. 11 comes Jim Furyk at No. 12. Kaymer took the place of Phil Mickelson at 11 as Mickelson fell to 13th, followed by Hideki Matsuyama, Dustin Johnson and Zach Johnson.

Rounding out the top 20 are Jimmy Walker, Steve Stricker, Jason Dufner and Luke Donald. Walker jumped two spots, while Stricker, Dufner and Donald all dropped, with Dufner falling from 16 to 19.

U.S. Open runner-ups Erik Compton and Rickie Fowler made significant jumps up the rankings. Compton, formerly No. 187, skyrocketed 114 spots to No. 73 in the world. Fowler moved up 12 spots from No. 39 to No. 27.

Brooks Koepka finished in a tie for fourth at Pinehurst No. 2, moving him up 26 spots from No. 96 to No. 70.
