Rose jumps to No. 8 in world with win at Congressional

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Rose defeated Shawn Stefani on the first playoff hole to win the Quicken Loans National title Sunday, and that helped Rose jump up two spots to No. 8 in this week's world rankings.

Rose, who picked up his sixth win on the PGA Tour, tapped in a par putt on the 18th green to secure his first victory on tour since winning the U.S. Open last year.

Adam Scott stayed put as the No. 1 player in the world, making it seven straight weeks he has held the top position. Henrik Stenson, who remained at No. 2, narrowly lost to Fabrizio Zanotti on the fifth playoff hole of the European Tour's BMW International Open Sunday.

Bubba Watson, Matt Kuchar, Tiger Woods, Jason Day and Rory McIlroy also remained the same, and they are Nos. 3 through 7.

Rose leapfrogged both Sergio Garcia and Jordan Spieth, who are now nine and 10, respectively. Jim Furyk jumped one spot to No. 11, while U.S. Open champion Martin Kaymer dropped to No 12 after missing the cut at the BMW International Open.

Phil Mickelson and Hideki Matsuyama stayed put at Nos. 13 and 14, while Dustin Johnson and Zach Johnson swapped places, with Dustin Johnson moving to 15. Jimmy Walker and Steve Stricker also stayed in the same spot at Nos. 17 and 18.

Luke Donald jumped one spot to No. 19, while Graeme McDowell vaulted two spots to 20. Jason Dufner fell two spots to No. 21 and Victor Dubuisson also dropped one to No. 22.

Zanotti moved up 193 spots from No. 305 to No. 112 in the world with his win at the BMW International Open on Sunday.
