Noh claims maiden win in New Orleans

New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Seung-Yul Noh carded a 1-under 71 on Sunday as he claimed a 2-stroke victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

No earned his first career win on the PGA Tour at 19-under-par 269.

"I'm very excited and very happy," Noh said about his maiden win.

Andrew Svoboda (69) and Robert Streb (70) both birdied their 72nd hole at TPC Louisiana to move into a tie for second place at 17-under, while Jeff Overton (70) finished in fourth at minus-16.

Robert Garrigus (64), Erik Compton (68) and Charley Hoffman (71) shared fifth at 14-under 274, a shot ahead of Justin Rose (68), Keegan Bradley (75) and Tommy Gainey (71).

Noh entered the final round with a 2-stroke lead, but quickly gave up one of those shots with a bogey at the first. It was his first bogey of the tournament.

Streb took advantage with a 72-foot eagle putt at the second to meet Noh at 17-under, and Bradley followed with a birdie at the second to make it a three- way tie for the lead.

Streb bogeyed the third to fall a shot off the pace before Bradley dropped a shot at the fifth to hand Noh the outright lead. Bradley fell further behind after finding water off the tee of the sixth and later 3-putting for a triple-bogey 7.

Streb had also fallen behind with a bogey at the sixth, but bounced back with back-to-back birdies at the seventh and eighth to again meet Noh at minus-17.

He could not maintain his momentum, however, and hit his tee shot at the par-3 ninth into the water en route to a double-bogey, leaving Overton in second at 16-under.

Overton had birdied the seventh and eighth to reach minus-16.

Noh, meanwhile, followed his opening bogey with six straight pars before converting an 18-foot birdie putt at the eighth to move to 18-under and two clear of Overton.

Overton birdied the 10th to move back within one of the lead, but Noh answered with a 4-foot birdie at the 10th to reclaim his 2-stroke advantage.

Noh was handed a 3-stroke lead when Overton 2-putted for bogey at the 11th to fall to 16-under and into a tie for second with Svoboda, who had three birdies and a bogey through 12 holes to reach 16-under.

Noh's lead briefly dipped to two with a bogey at the 12th, but he quickly bounced back when he hit the flag stick with his second at the 13th and rolled in his short birdie effort to get back to 19-under.

"It was a bad lie a little bit, a little bit of downslope and a little bit of sand at the bottom, so it was a little tricky shot," Noh said about his shot that hit the flag stick.

Overton briefly pulled within two of Noh when he birdied the par-3 14th, but then 3-putted for bogey at the 16th to fall back to 16-under and into a tie for second with Streb and Svoboda.

After Noh's 3-putt bogey at the 15th dropped him to minus-18, Streb rolled in a 38-foot birdie putt at the 16th to move within a shot of the lead.

He would not get any closer, though, as Noh stuck his approach at the 16th to three feet and kicked in that birdie to regain a 2-stroke lead. Streb handed him a 3-stroke advantage with a bogey at the 17th.

Svoboda and Streb would both birdie the last to finish at 17-under and put a little pressure on Noh, but he would par his final two holes to close out the victory.

NOTES: Noh was making his 78th career start on the PGA Tour ... With the win, Noh earned the final spot at The Players Championship in two weeks ... The third round leader/co-leader has now won 11 of 23 times this year on the PGA Tour ... Noh's previous best finish on tour was a share of fourth place at the 2012 AT&T National ...
