NOTES:
The LPGA Tour travels to California this week for the Kia Classic at Aviara Golf Club in Carlsbad. This is the seventh event of the LPGA Tour season, with players from South Korea winning the first six tournaments. Na Yeon Choi won the season-opening Coates Golf Championship in January; Sei Young Kim captured the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic in February; Lydia Ko won the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open in February; Amy Yang captured the Honda LPGA Thailand in early March; Inbee Park won the HSBC Women's Champions three weeks ago; and Hyo Joo Kim captured the JTBC Founders Cup last week.

The top 14 players in the world are in the field this week. Ko, the world No. 1, has finished in the top-7 in all five events she has played this season, including a victory and two runner-up finishes. She has recorded nine straight top-10 finishes dating back to last year.

American and world No. 3 Stacy Lewis will try to break through for the first time this season. She has finished T-2, 3rd and 2nd in her last three starts.

The tournament is being held at Aviara Golf Club for the third straight year. Golf legend Arnold Palmer designed the course, which opened for play in 1991. The 2010 and 2012 events were played at La Costa Resort & Spa, while the 2011 tournament was staged at Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms.

Last year, Anna Nordqvist carded two rounds of 67 on the weekend to claim a 1- stroke victory over Lizette Salas. Nordqvist, who collected her fourth career victory on the LPGA Tour and second of 2014, finished at 13-under-par 275.

Laura Diaz posted a hole-in-one at the sixth hole in the final round in 2014. She also aced the third hole in the third round. Diaz became just the second player in LPGA history to record two aces in one week. Jenny Lidback was the first in 1997 at the Chrysler Plymouth TOC.

Yani Tseng fired rounds of 67-68-69-70 in 2012 to claim a 6-stroke victory over Sun Young Yoo. She finished at 14-under-par 274 to capture her second consecutive title, her third of the 2012 season and the 15th of her career. Tseng established a new tournament record at 274. Tseng has not won a title since winning here in 2012.

In 2011, Sandra Gal birdied the 72nd hole to capture her first career LPGA Tour victory. Gal finished at 16-under-par 276 at Industry Hills Golf Club. She became the second German to win on the LPGA Tour, joining Tina Fischer (2001 Asahi Ryokuken International).

Hee Kyung Seo shot rounds of 70-67-69-70 in 2010 to cruise to a 6-stroke win over Park. Seo, who played on a sponsor's invitation, finished at 12-under 276 for her first LPGA Tour win in her eighth start.

The LPGA Tour remains in California next week for the first major of the season, the ANA Inspiration (formerly Kraft Nabisco Championship) in Rancho Mirage, where American Lexi Thompson captured her first major title in 2014.
