NOTES:
The LPGA's best and brightest are across the pond this week for the fifth and final major of the year, The Evian Championship. This week's limited field consists of 110 players, including the top 17 players in the world. Although this is the 21st Evian Championship, the tournament is in its 15th year on the LPGA Tour circuit.

This is the second year that this tournament is considered a major championship. Lexi Thompson won the season's first major, the Kraft Nabisco Championship; Michelle Wie captured the U.S. Women's Open; Mo Martin won the Ricoh Women's British Open; and Inbee Park captured the Wegmans LPGA Championship.

Last year, Suzann Pettersen carded rounds of 66-69-68 en route to winning the weather-shortened event by two strokes. Pettersen ended at 10-under-par 203 for her second major championship and 13th LPGA Tour title. After the first round was washed out by rain on Thursday, officials cut the championship to 54 holes.

In 2012, Inbee Park birdied the last three holes in the final round to earn her second LPGA Tour victory. Park fired rounds of 71-64-70-66 and finished the championship at 17-under 271. She won by two strokes over Stacy Lewis and Hall of Famer Karrie Webb. It was Park's first victory on tour since she captured the 2008 U.S. Women's Open at Interlachen at the age of 19.

In 2011, Ai Miyazato shot rounds of 68-68-67-70 to win by two strokes over Lewis. She finished at 15-under-par 273. Miyazato, who also won this event in 2009, joined Annika Sorenstam (2000, 02) and Laura Davies (1995-96) as 2-time winners. Helen Alfredsson (1994, 1998, 2008) is the only 3-time winner.

Miyazato earned her long-awaited first LPGA Tour victory in 2009 by beating Sophie Gustafson in a playoff. Miyazato drained a birdie putt on the first extra hole to top Gustafson and win for the first time in four full seasons on tour.

Helen Alfredsson needed three extra holes to claim her third title at this event in 2008. Alfredsson closed with a 5-under 67 to join Na Yeon Choi and Angela Park at 15-under-par 273. She became the first player to win this title three times. Alfredsson fired a 63 in the second round to establish a new course record.

In 2007, Natalie Gulbis birdied the first playoff hole to defeat Jeong Jang. It was her long-awaited first LPGA Tour title. Gulbis and Jang finished the event at 4-under-par 284.

The LPGA Tour moves to Alabama next week for the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic in Prattville, where Lewis won the last time the tournament was played in 2012.
