Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh native Marvin Simpkins scored a stellar round of golf Friday.
The 73-year-old shot a 64 at Raleigh Golf Association after recording nine birdies, seven pars, a bogey and double bogey.
Par for the course is 70. Course stock holders and members were present and witnessed the rare event.

Truly outstanding! All that I can say is congratulations to a real golfer. I play the game, and the best that I have ever scored was a 74. That was some years ago, without loads of back ailments. Two years ago, I had 7 birdies, a few pars and too many triples. A 79.
Drink one for me Sir. You deserve it.
