Keith Hills hosts Kickoff Classic

BUIES CREEK — Keith Hills Country Club will host the 10th Keith Hills High School Kickoff Classic on Friday, March 6.

The tournament will feature some of the region's top boys golf teams from last year’s state high school championships. Each competing team will use the low four of five scores for a team total with trophies being presented to the top two teams and individual winners on each course.

The field includes reigning champion Green Hope High and a number of strong challengers, including Southern Pines Pinecrest High (winner of the state NCHSAA 4-A title in 2008), Cardinal Gibbons High (2-A state champion), Wilson Fike High (3-A state champion) and Ravenscroft High (NCISSA 3-A state champion). Other area teams competing include Apex High, Clayton High, Fuquay-Varina High, Lee County High, Leesville Road High, Millbrook High, Triton High and Wakefield High.

Patrick Barrett of Pinecrest won the 2008 individual title.
