GYM: Wolfpack Finishes Fifth at NCAA Regional

Athens, Ga. — The NC State gymnastics team concluded the 2014 season with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Regional Saturday evening at Stegeman Coliseum. The Wolfpack ended with a team score of 194.550.
The Pack started the meet on the uneven parallel bars, where Brittni Watkins and Stephanie Ouellette each scored a 9.800 to lead the squad. Kristen Harabedian also finished with a score of 9.775, as the squad totaled a 48.150 on the event.
On the balance beam, Lane Jarred finished with a 9.800 for the second consecutive meet to lead the squad. Senior Hannah Fallanca also scored a 9.750, as the Wolfpack finished with a 48.425 on the apparatus.
After two rotations, State posted a score of 96.575.
The Wolfpack next moved to the floor exercise and turned in a score of 49.125. Watkins and Jarred led the way for the team, as both gymnasts totaled a 9.850. Aubrey Hine tied her career-best mark of 9.825 for the second straight competition. Meanwhile, Ouellette and Harabedian notched a score of 9.800 on their routines.
State would conclude the competition on vault, where Watkins led the squad with a 9.850 to tie for sixth overall. Ouellette Diahanna Ham each tallied a score of 9.775. Meanwhile, Fallanca notched a 9.750 while freshman Courtney Leighton recorded a 9.700. As a group, State finished with a score of 48.850 on the event.
In the all-around competition, Ouellette and Watkins each finished with a 39.000 to tie for fifth.
As a team, State finished fifth overall with a score of 194.550. Michigan finished first overall with a score of 196.750, while Georgia finished second overall with a 196.375. Central Michigan (195.600), Ohio State (195.100) and Rutgers (193.725) round out the team totals.
