Bill Hass essentially grew up on the fields of Quail Hollow. He knows cracking even par on this course requires complete concentration but the Charlotte native cannot fight distraction this weekend.
"Definitely have something in the back of my mind going on other than golf," said Haas.
Fatherhood, as the son of former PGA and current champions tour Jay Haas, readies for his own little bundle of joy.
He and his wife Julie expecting their first born with a due date of May 17.
"The plan is for her to hold off another two weeks but she's full term so anything could happen," Haas said.
And that makes a cell phone just as crucial a part of Haas' baggage as the three wood or a pitching wedge.
"I got my brother on the bag and he's got his on him just in case someone needs to get in touch with us," said Haas.
Now should that call come in mid-round, mid-backswing, Haas says he'll probably split right there.
"I think it's just something important that I want to be a part of and I know she'd love me to be a part of it," Haas said. "Golf becomes secondary when you're talking about family. Just hoping everything is healthy and happy and my wife is good."
Bill and Julie already picked a name for William Jr. now they're just waiting to meet him.
