The Carolina Hurricanes have activated forward Riley Nash from injured reserve. The team also reassigned forwards Zach Boychuk and Brett Sutter to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Nash, 24, has missed the Hurricanes’ last five games after sustaining a lower-body injury in the team’s game on Dec. 31. The Consort, Alb., native has scored four goals and earned six assists (10 points) in 36 games with Carolina this season. Nash (6’1”, 200 lbs.) is in his fourth professional season and has notched eight goals and earned 12 assists (20 points) in 73 career NHL regular-season games with the Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes host the Calgary Flames on Monday at PNC Arena (7 p.m. FOX Sports Carolinas, Hurricanes Radio Network) in the first game of a three-game home stand.
