Hurricanes ink Phil Di Giuseppe to entry-level deal

Raleigh, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes have signed left wing Phil Di Giuseppe, a second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, to a three-year entry-level contract.
Di Giuseppe, 20, will be paid $70,000 annually at the AHL level. At the NHL level, he will earn $675,000 in 2014-15, $725,000 in 2015-16 and $775,000 in 2016-17. Di Giuseppe also received a $277,500 signing bonus.
“We’re pleased that Phil has chosen to begin his professional hockey career,” Ron Francis, vice president of hockey operations, said in a statement. “He’s got good size and adds to our organization’s depth at forward.”
Di Giuseppe recently completed his junior season with the Michigan Wolverines. He scored 13 goals and tallied 11 assists in 35 games in 2013-14.
The Hurricanes return to the ice on Thursday when they visit the Florida Panthers for a 7:30 p.m. game.
