— The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled forward Zach Boychuk from the Charlotte Checkers on an emergency basis, the team announced Thursday.

Boychuk was named AHL Player of the Month in March after notching 22 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in 16 games. He has been recalled twice previously during the 2013-14 season.

In nine games with the Hurricanes this season, Boychuk has three assists and one goal.

The Hurricanes return to PNC Arena Thursday to face the Dallas Stars (7 p.m., 99.9 FM The Fan). Forwards Alex Semin and Drayson Bowman, who are both battling flu-like symptoms, could miss Thursday's game.

Anton Khudobin will start in net against the Stars.

Boychuck has done well with the Checkers - hope he continues that play with the Canes this time around.
