Hurricanes to face Devils without defenseman Sekera
Posted November 29, 2013
The Carolina Hurricanes will be without defenseman Andrej Sekera on Friday when they host the New Jersey Devils at PNC Arena (7 p.m., Fox Sports Carolina, 99.9 FM The Fan).
Sekera, who has 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He will replaced Friday by Mike Komisarek.
Fellow defenseman Tim Gleason and forward Alexander Semin did not participate in Carolina's morning skate Friday. Semin is still out with a concussion, and Gleason is nursing a lower-body issue.
Since being recalled from the Charlotte Checkers, rookie forward Elias Lindholm has helped make the Canes power play better – although he couldn't quite find the words to describe his role following Friday's skate.
"I don't know, actually," he said when asked how he has helped the power play.
He did elaborate on what a good power play does: "Keep shooting in the beginning (of the power play) then make some nice plays after that."
Can Ward will be making his fourth consecutive start in goal for the Hurricanes, and Cory Schneider will be starting for New Jersey. The Hurricanes downed New Jersey 4-3 on Wednesday evening.
