The Carolina Hurricanes showcased brand new home and away uniforms for the 2013-2014 season on Tuesday at the PNC Arena. The uniforms were developed by an in-house team over a two-year period.

According to the team, the changes include: Hurricanes unveil new uniforms Slideshow: Hurricanes unveil new uniforms

A smaller, lighter crest on both home and away sweaters. The logo outline was changed from metallic to matte silver finish.

• The warning flag pattern was moved from the base of the sweater to inside the neckline.
• Lettering and numbering changed to a more round, sans-serif font.
• The shoulder patches were removed from both sweaters.

The Hurricanes logo and bottom black band were removed from the pants, and glove sets will be predominantly red with small white highlights. Black and silver has been removed.

The change is the first to the Canes uniforms since their relocation to North Carolina in 1997. The team's primary colors and logos remain the same on the new uniforms.

The new sweaters will be available for purchase in early September. Hurricanes' season ticket holders will have an opportunity to purchase before the general public.

    they r still losers...

I prefer the previous ones. These are just boring and, as it has been pointed out, look like copycats of other teams. I will not be replacing my jersey with one of these.

The new jerseys are terrible. No personality at all. Maybe that's what they were going for. Maybe it's a cost cutting measure - the customization on the old ones may have been too expensive.

    These look totally generic.

At least we all now have something else to complain about besides their on-ice performance.

They are awful.....where is the hurricane flag with the hockey stick? Best part of the old uniforms.

UGLY! It looks to me like Carolina Hurricanes jersey sales will be down this year. I expect there will be more 50% off sales at The Eye. I'll be taking better care of the ones I have because I will not buy one of these. Even if they are half off.

Overall ok with the new jerseys. I really like the road and the black letters and numbers I think that is sharp. The home ones are ok, I like the old school lacing but they are a lot simpler. During the press that Forslund voice was doing they said something about reducing the logo size because the players were complaining it was too big and when the jersey was stretched it would get in the way.

Uniforms don't mean one single thing to me, it's what's in the uniform that performs is what I am interested in. We need a winner.

Is it just me or does the home Jersey looks like a freakin practice sweater????
Please incorporate the storm warning checkers back into the bottom!!

Horrible, simply horrible.. not sure you can design a more boring uniform.. very disappointing.

What was he thinking? They wanted more revenue from people running out to buy the new ones. This is nothing more than a marketing ploy.
