Eric Staal was named the National Hockey League's today named first star of the week for the period ending March 8. Staal scored five goals and earned four assists as the Hurricanes’ posted 3-0-0 record in games at Washington, against Calgary and at Tampa Bay. Carolina won those games by a combined score of 20-6.
The Canes center set new Hurricanes records since the team’s relocation to Raleigh and tied the franchise records for goals and points in a game with his four-goal, six-point night in Carolina’s 9-3 win at Tampa Bay on Saturday. Staal has 32 goals in 67 games this season.
Thank you to the Carolina Hurricanes PR department for putting out all the numbers for us.
