He's started 24 straight games in the net, compiled a 16-6-2 record in the span, and now he's racking up the weekly awards.
Goalie Cam Ward earned the NHL's third star for the week that just ended on Sunday. Ward went 3-0-0 in that span picking up wins at New Jersey, at Florida, and at home over Ottawa. He only allowed four goals in those games for a goals-against average of 1.33.
The week before, Ward received the NHL's first star and he didn't do quite as well. He went 3-0-0 in that span with a 2.33 goals-against average. This is the fourth time this season Ward has been named one of the three stars.
The Hurricanes have won a season best six games in a row, as well as nine straight at home. The team returns to action on Thursday night at 7 p.m. against the Rangers at the RBC Center. The Canes Hockey Insider will start things off on 99.9 FM The Fan at 6:30 p.m.
