Canes biggest error - letting Ray Whitney leave!

He's leading Phoenix in points and led them to the playoffs. If we had kept him, we'd be in the playoffs and the power play would not have sucked for two years, not to mention his importance as a team leader and joker. Major error Rutherford.

Ray wanted to get paid for his services. He didn't want to work for the welfare wages that Rutherford typically signs players to.

Agreed. He is a player in his late thirties, but they could have locked him up for 2-3 years for 3 million. Sometimes you try and squeeze that nickel a little too hard.

It is time for Jim Rutherford to go! I didn't buy season tickets this year; tired of watching Jim drool all over Eric. He is a total package;waste of alot of money! Ray; you would have made a great captain! Jim do us all a favor and retire!

I agreee that JR should have kept the Wizard, but he sure did command big bucks in the two year contract he just signed, which was out of reach for the Canes.

If they had signed him last season, they would have had him locked in for $3m or less this season & next.

Agreed. It's hard to commit to a player his age, but if I had to bet on one, it would have been Whitney.

Maaaaan. That would have been a good price for Whitney. And, after seeing other offers fizzle, I REALLY wish they would have kept the Wizard
