The Carolina Hurricanes signed its three broadcasters, John Forslund and Tripp Tracy of the telecast and Chuck Kaiton of the radio call, to new, multi-year contracts Monday.

“John, Tripp and Chuck have been mainstays of the Hurricanes for a long, long time,” said President and General Manager Jim Rutherford. “Most of our young fans have grown up with their voices describing the game, and we are very pleased that they will each continue in their roles moving forward.” More Info     Carolina Hurricanes Logo More Hurricanes Stories

Forslund will begin his 18th season as the team’s television play-by-play voice in 2012-13, and his 22nd season with the Hurricanes organization. Former professional goaltender Tracy will join Forslund as color analyst for the duo’s 14th season together, calling the team’s games on FOX Sports Carolinas.

Kaiton continues at the franchise’s only radio play-by-play man since it entered the NHL in 1979. Kaiton’s radio calls can be heard on the Hurricanes Radio Network, and its flagship station, 99.9 FM The Fan.

RE: Canes' Forslund, Tracy and Kaiton get multi-year contracts

Love Chuck and the letter K. I don't get to watch too many games and it is great to hear his hall of fame voice every game. I am also very glad that every game will be televised next year. Last year it seemed like I was always able to watch the games on TV when there was no broadcast.

Now if Tripp was just an elite wing, John was a true second line center, and Chuck was a strong stay at home defense then all of our prayers would be answered.

Here's hoping the other 3 work out somehow through trade, FA, and draft. Not necessarily in that order.

Looking forward to see what happens this weekend.

I don't get why so many don't like Tripp...the guy is funny and knows hockey.

So glad to see all three will be back. Good omen for next year. I think Forslund is the BEST, and if the Canes aren't in the playoffs, I think it's great he does work for Versus as well; it just shows how good he is.

I like Kaiton on the radio, but I have to agree with Wags - he is hard to understand - but he has incredible hockey knowledge.

John Forslund needs to go !..you can not broadcast for the Canes and then broadcast for Versus. You are a tru trader in my book.We need to get the radio host of the Canes to take his place. He's got the hockey voice.

Right, and I guess all the regional guys that broadcast for Fox, ESPN, MLB, etc. should go too. What's wrong with a regional guy picking up national work? To me that shows how good he is.

I think Forslund is great! he makes announcers for most other sports look like total amateurs. Tripp - well, he at least can be entertaining. Not the best, but I think the chemistry he and JF has is great!

Now the Canes need to go spend some $ on talented players and get this team back to the playoffs! Get STahl and Skinner some help!
