Raleigh, N.C. — Carolina Hurricanes legend and hockey Hall of Famer Ron Francis is among the latest to invest in the team. The Canes announced Wednesday that Francis and four others, all from North Carolina, have joined Hurricanes Holdings, LLC.
Francis' Playmakers Management, LLC, joins GreengardenDRC, LLC (Eliza Kraft Olander and Brian McHenry), Ron de Lange and two investment partners who have chosen to keep their partnerships private. The amounts of the individual shares were not publicized.
Francis retired from the ice after a career that included two Stanley Cups – with Pittsburgh in 1991 and 1992. He joined the Hurricanes front office in 2006 and currently serves as vice president of hockey operations.
Eliza Kraft Olander is retired from the business world and focuses on community development and philanthropy. Brian McHenry is president of McHenry Software. Ron de Lange is president and CEO of Tekelec, an innovator of mobile internet solutions headquartered in Morrisville.

I agree with the prior comment that hopefully he can talk some sense into these pig headed owners. The NHL is making huge amounts of money. And now they're going to lockout the players? All this while I'm paying almost $4 a gallon for gas, $10 beers, etc. Maybe they just don't covet season ticket holders or the others that make sacrifices to go watch a game that they love.

Isn't this like buying a car while it's leaking oil? How long can the Canes handle their building being dark since they whine about how many millions they lose when they don't make the Cup finals?

always liked Ron,i think its good for him !
RE: Francis, others join Canes ownership team
This only makes sense if the Canes really are making money as Karmanos claims they are or he doesn't or something like that. Somebody is making money off $10 beers.

Yup I agree a year long lockout will kill the NHL has we know it. They will not see people come back like they did before. The owners are playing a dangerous game right now.
