The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired left wing Jussi Jokinen from Tampa Bay in exchange for Wade Brookbank, Josef Melichar and Carolina’s fourth-round draft pick in 2009. Jokinen will be available for the Hurricanes’ game tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, AZ.
“Jussi is a skilled, two-positional player that can be used in all situations,” said team President and General Manager Jim Rutherford. “He will add depth to our team at an important time of the season.”
Jokinen, 25, has scored six goals and earned 10 assists (16 points) in 46 games this season with Tampa Bay. The Kalajoki, Finland, native is in his fourth NHL season. Jokinen has scored 53 goals and earned 108 assists in 281 NHL games with Dallas and Tampa Bay since being drafted by the Stars in the sixth round, 192nd overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry draft.

Avery was just reinstated into the NHL and would be a good fit for the Canes. He may have an attitude but I believe he will be more reserved if he wants to stay in the league and is a great hockey player.

Canes are not able to make a blockbuster trade, so this is, at least, an effort. Please, Hurricanes, please just make the playoffs.

i actually like this trade melichar or brookbank never played and jokinen can play every night for us and he can score on any given night

Errrrr.......Not really the blockbuster trade for a power forward Jim......need a winger that can put the puck in the net or be a playmaker for Stahl....Jokinen might be eligible for a third line the way we're NOT scoring.....
