Hurricanes assign Sutter and McBain to Albany
By Mike Maniscalco Sep 27, 2009
The Carolina Hurricanes announced today that the organization has assigned center Brandon Sutter and defenseman Jamie McBain to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. Sutter played 11:56 in the Canes final pre-season game, a 5-2 win over Nashville. Sutter was plus one for the game, McBain did not play.
The Hurricanes are at the official NHL roster number of 23, with defenseman Jay Harrison and forwards Michael Ryan and Tim Conboy on the NHL roster. This is not the final opening night roster, another move can be made if defenseman Joni Pitkanen is cleared for Friday's season opener against Philadelphia.
The Hurricanes completed their exhibition schedule with a 5-2 win in Nashville on Saturday night, and will next practice on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. at the RBC Center.

We'll see him again, I just hope it is not for a bad injury or the rampant running flu of two seasons ago...ugh

Sutter is not a bust, if you say Sutter is a bust, you are not a Canes fan and i'm not afraid to say it. GO CANES

Sutter will gain a lot this year from being in the AHL. Though assuming we will not go totally injury free...he'll be back up.

Sutter needs to gain weight and get stronger. Has the smarts, speed and ability, just needs to grow. Playing a lot of minutes in Albany will help more than sitting and playing 6:00 here.

This must be disappointing to Sutter; I know he tried very hard to stay with the Canes. This illustrates how hard it is to make it to the NHL. The Canes are solid this year; in other years, they would have brought up Sutter and played him sooner. This is for the best; it will give him time to improve. Go Canes!!
