COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Carolina goaltender Cam Ward was helped
off the ice in the first period of the Hurricanes' game against the
Columbus Blue Jackets.

Ward knelt for a couple of minutes on the ice before he was
attended to by team trainers. As he was being helped off, drops of
blood hit the ice.

Ward stretched to make a save while the Blue Jackets' Rick Nash
was skating through the crease at the 7:35 mark. It appeared Nash
might have nicked Ward in the groin area with a skate.
Michael Leighton replaced Ward in goal.

Ward was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Groin?

From watching this over and over last night, the "groin" comments added by WRAL are suspect. It looked more likely that the skate caught Cam slightly above the knee, perhaps a bit inside of the knee. With any luck, perhaps it was only superficial, but I worry the damage may be worse. I hope Cam can recover quickly.

He's out for 3 - 4 months per nhl.com Very bad injury.

Really? Any chance you can provide a link? Such an article so soon would be completely different from the typically limited information the Canes or the NHL provide on injuries.
