RE: Canes expect Ward back Dec. 9
Ward might just want to take a vacation and come back after this disaster of a season is fixed / over.
RE: Canes expect Ward back Dec. 9
A few days after the injury happened when they placed him on Long Term IR, I thought that I had read a quote from Rutherford saying he would be out for 4-6 months. I'm glad that's not true because injuring your thigh muscle as a goalie is one of the worst injuries you can get, so the fact that he's healing is great for him. I am glad I misread or mis-remembered the length of time.
Wasn't it in December where they fired Maurice the first time, and then fired Laviolette? Maybe they'll surprise us and move some old guys and move Ronnie to head coach and let him groom them for next year.
RE: Canes expect Ward back Dec. 9
Why would you declare him out for the year just a few weeks ago, and now bring him back? How can the earlier prognosis and this one be so different? I know God can heal miraculously - but why risk further injury to your goalie of the future when this season is in the tank? I would like nothing more than see the Canes turn it around and sneak into the playoffs, but to get to 95 points, you need 80 points in 55 games. I know ties factor in, but with all the injuries and sub-par play from so many on the team, there is no way this team goes 40-15; and I really doubt they can average 1.5 points a game from here o out.
All that to say, I am still rooting hard, and I would love to eat my words above come April, but I do not see the point in bringing back Ward after such a terrible injury only to put him in harm's way again.

I don't think he was ever "out for the year". He was on IR, but unlike the NFL you can come back from that in the same year. I don't think it's going to matter a whole lot - until they get a real coach....

Looking forward to it. It will be a shot-in-the-arm to this team to have him back. It will be interesting to see the Leighton/Legace battle for backup.
