Johnny Manziel has 'it'

Posted April 24, 2014

Former East Carolina and NFL coach Steve Logan joined Adam Gold and Joe Ovies on 99.9 The Fan to break down this year's crop of quarterbacks in the NFL Draft.

For those franchise's in the market for a quarterback, Logan said a team's head coach, general manger and position coach will debate who to select all the way up to the minute they have to make the pick.

Logan said coaches tend to over-analyze everything but the bottom line is they need to ask themselves whether a guy can play, and if he can, just draft him.

"There are mixed reviews on Johnny Manziel, but I've ever seen a quarterback with his foot speed," admitted Logan. "Forty speed is not the same as football speed, and Johnny has it."

Neither one is a requirement for football knowledge or the ability to see talent on the field. While I think he can succeed in the pros if he lands in the right situation, the drafts are always full of great prospects who amount to nothing in the pros. This is particularly true in the QB position. We'll know better when we see who gets him.

Hilarious. The Lord of the Blogs has spoken. And he might want to note that he wasn't the "first" to write on this thread; that "honor" goes to BB5.

    Excellent logic as usual, Hokie.

I wonder why more didn't respond to this topic tonight. Could it be that most never played in high school, nor coached either. This is why I wrote my first on this one. You know who you are.

I appreciate hearing from a former player, and coach that sees stuff that some of us never think about when gauging talent. If he keeps his "nose" clean, he could be special.

Yes he does.....looking forward to watching him in the NFL.
