Duke forward Ryan Kelly was named the ACC Player of the Week Monday after averaging 20 points per game in two Blue Devils wins.
Kelly hit a career-high five 3-pointers and scored a season-best 22 points in Duke’s 80-62 win over Wake Forest Saturday, backing up an 18-point, seven-rebound performance against Davidson on Wednesday. Kelly is 13-for-18 on 3-pointers in the last five games and leads the team with a .500 3-point shooting percentage on the year.
Boston College’s Joe Rahon earned the ACC Rookie of the Week honor after averaging 21 points and 3.5 assists in two games. In a 78-73 loss to NC State, Rahon had 18 points, four rebounds and two assists.
On the women’s side, Duke’s Chelsea Gray was named ACC Player of the Week following her second career triple double. Gray scored 18 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 10 assists in a win over Boston College Sunday. In doing so, Gray became just the third player in ACC history to record multiple triple-doubles.
Gray, the ACC’s leading scorer, is the only player in the country to average better than 15 points, five rebounds and six assists per game.
North Carolina’s Xylina McDaniel was selected the ACC Rookie of the Week. She had 14 points, eight rebounds and five steals in Sunday’s win over Virginia Tech.
