— Duke University Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin White has been named one of four NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision recipients of the Under Armour AD of the Year Award announced on Tuesday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

The 28 honorees covering seven divisions (NCAA FBS, FCS; Division I-AAA, II, III, NAIA/Other Four-Year Institutions and Junior College/Community Colleges) will receive their awards during the James J. Corbett Awards Luncheon on Saturday, June 15 at NACDA's 48th Annual Convention at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Fla.

Joining White as the FBS winners were Jeff Compher of Northern Illinois, John Currie of Kansas State and Jeff Long of Arkansas.

White joined Duke in 2008 as the vice president and director of athletics and since his arrival, the Blue Devils continue to excel both academically and athletically.

Since White’s arrival, Duke has captured four NCAA Championships—women’s tennis in 2009, men’s basketball in 2010 and men’s lacrosse in both 2010 and 2013. Duke is currently ranked eighth in the 2013 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings.

Academically, Duke team’s continue to perform under White’s watch. During the 2013 spring semester, 25 of the 26 Blue Devil varsity teams earned grade point averages of 3.0 or better. In 2012, Duke posted a 97 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and 14 teams achieved 100 percent GSR.

Under White, Duke has continued its focus on outreach to the local community. Modeling the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program’s commitment to service, learning project and outreach, approximately 500 Duke student-athletes across all sports participated in a combined effort of more than 2,000 community service hours.

Several facility projects were recently completed, impacting many of Duke’s 26 varsity sports, including Pascal Field House, the reconstruction of Williams Field, renovations to the golf course and major upgrades to the soccer practice fields.

White has taught graduate-level classes since 1982 and currently teaches a sports business course in Duke’s Fuqua School of Business as part of Duke’s MBA program.

No surprise....Duke is #1 in men's sports. They don't give this award out to the AD of the school that's #1 in the girls' sports....
