Saint Augustine’s University senior Tyron Laughinghouse was named the CIAA Special Teams Player of the Year and former Garner Trojan Kameron Smith was named the Offensive Player of the year as the conference announced their 2012 All-Conference players and teams of the year Tuesday.

Carlos Fields, who went to high school at Northern Vance and is now a junior at Winston-Salem State, was named the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year after a regular season in which he recorded 69 total tackles (38 solo, 31 assisted) and six tackles-for-loss.

In addition to Laughinghouse, St. Aug was also represented on the All-CIAA First Team by offensive lineman Stedman Gardner, defensive lineman Javarous Faulk and linebacker Chaz Robinson. Offensive lineman Rory Nixon was named to the second team.

Shaw quarterback James Stallons, who was named co-offensive player of the week for the conference following his performance against St. Aug, was named to the All-CIAA Second Team along with teammate and defensive back Darnell Evans.
