Logan to be inducted into ECU Hall of Fame

Former East Carolina head football coach Steve Logan will be inducted into the East Carolina University Athletics Hall of Fame Friday.

Logan, who was elected into the Hall of Fame last year, will be officially enshrined in an induction ceremony at the Pete and Lynn Murphy Center.

The former coach will be inducted alongside Slyvia Bragg (women’s basketball), Don Harris (men’s basketball), Tammy Putnam-Lenox (swimming and diving), Harold Rudolph (football), Carter Suggs (track and field) and David Garrad (football).

The seven members will be honored during halftime of the Pirates’ football game against Tulsa Saturday. They will also be recognized during halftime of ECU’s basketball game against NC Wesleyan Friday following the induction ceremonies.

Logan coached the Pirates from 1992-2002. He became the school’s all-time winning coach with a 69-58 overall record. Logan led ECU to five bowl games, one of which, the St. Jude Liberty Bowl, came after his 1995 team finished with a 9-3 record and a No. 23 ranking in the final AP poll.

    Mike Hamrick was the worst AD quite possibly in ECU history. He left the ECU athletics program in a mess before Terry Holland came in and cleaned things up. He hated Logan. Right after he fired Logan he headed for the hills to UNLV before they ran him off.

    There is no bad blood between ECU and Steve. We love the coach. In truth, if he would have let his good friend Tim Rose go as the DC and had not given up on recruiting because of the BCS he would probably still be the coach today. In my opinion, he lost his edge at the end and just had it with the politics of coaching and college football.

    Well deserved for the guy that really put ECU football on the map. ECU was always a threat to knock off a good team when he was coaching.

    That was the action of one bad AD who has been to two different schools since ECU and run out of one (the other is his alma mater in WV, who can't get anyone else). Everyone has a few bad apples. Many would rather be in the ECU Hall of Fame than part of CHeating scandal that spans decades.

    Wow, they lifted his ban from campus? Ever heard of a school with such a loyal coach who got banned when he got fired? He could not even watch his son play baseball for ECU. I don't recommend anyone attend class in the UNC system due to micromangement and corrupt politics. It's not really an honor to be in ECU's hall of fame. It's kinda like Duke inviting the lacrosse players back for an honor during Black History Month.
