Maye gets standing ovation in class, Laettner shoutout
Posted March 27
Luke Maye hit game-winning bucket against Kentucky that sent North Carolina to another Final Four, cut down South Regional nets in Memphis, celebrated with his fellow Tar Heels, handle the media crush, and hopped on a plane back to Chapel Hill.
After a heck of a night, you'd think Maye would sleep in. Think again.
Maye was back in the classroom roughly 12 hours after North Carolina's 75-73 win over Kentucky. He was greeted with a standing ovation from classmates.
The similarity of Maye's winning basket crushing Kentucky's Final Four hopes was not lost on the original Wildcat dream-killer. Duke legend Christian Laettner added his own spin on the shot via Twitter.
Needless to say, but Maye became an instant legend for North Carolina fans. Doubtful he'll ever have to buy another meal in Chapel Hill again. And thanks to designer Ryan Cocca, Maye and his signature eyebrows are immortalized with this fantastic shirt.
