NC State shot a 4-under team score on Monday and is in second place after round one of the Warrior Wave Intercollegiate presented by St. Regis Princeville Resort.

The Wolfpack is just one shot out of the lead held by Georgia Southern at 5-under 283.

Albin Choi was nearly flawless through 13 holes, posting five birdies, but had to overcome a triple bogey 7 on No. 14 to record a 3-under 69 and is tied for fourth in the individual standings.

James Chapman is tied for ninth after a 2-under 70. His round featured two birdies, one on each side of the course, and 16 pars.

Mitch Sutton is one shot behind Chapman, and tied for 13th at 1-under 71. The London, Ontario, native had four birdies, to offset three bogeys in his opening round.

Hunter Howell sits in a tie for 32nd after a 2-over 74, and William Herring, coming off consecutive top-20 finishes, struggled to an 82 on Monday.

There is a three-way tie for first at 4-under held by Amol Mahal (UC Santa Barbara), Adrian Meronk (ETSU) and Korey Ward (Xavier).

The second round of the Warrior Wave Intercollegiate from Makai Golf Club continues on Tuesday. State will begin bright-and-early at 7:30 a.m., local time.
