Greensboro, N.C. — NC State is tied for fifth after two rounds on Saturday at the Bridgestone Intercollegiate hosted by UNCG at Grandover Resort’s East Course.
The Wolfpack sits at 10-over 586 after 36 holes. State was tied for fourth after the first round with a 1-over 289, and followed that up with a 9-over 297 in the afternoon.
Senior Mitchell Sutton was the low man for the Pack at 1-under 143 on Saturday to tie for 11th.
Junior Albin Choi is one shot behind his teammate and fellow Canadian at even-par 144 and is tied for 13th.
Sophomore William Herring is the third NC State player in the top-20, sitting in a tie for 16th at 1-over 145.
Choi and Sutton finished round one tied for third at 2-under 70, while Herring, coming off a T9 finish last week at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, fired a 1-over 73 in round one.
Chattanooga leads the team standings at 5-under 571, followed by Mississippi State (572) and Iowa State (574).
Mississippi State led after round one at 2-under 286, followed by Iowa State (287) and Virginia Tech (288).
Axel Boasson (Mississippi State) tops the individual field at 8-under 136, while Chris Robb (Chattanooga) is at 6-under and Mississippi’s Blake Morris is at 4-under.
Morris fired an impressive 5-under 67 to lead after 18 holes. Boasson was at 3-under 69 followed by a group of four players, including Choi and Sutton, at -2.
Sunday’s third round will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
