POTOMAC, Md. — Raleigh native Chesson Hadley fired a 5-under-par this weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Championship in Patomac, Md., placing him second in the field and vaulting him to eighth overall on the Web.com Tour money list.
Although he has yet to win a tournament on the season, Hadley has finished top-10 in three consecutive events and made a 17-spot jump on the money list with this week’s runner-up finish. Since shooting a 2-over 74 in his final round at the Stadion Classic to open the month of May, Hadley has fired 11 under-par rounds out of 12 and has compiled a cumulative 35-under-par in his last three events.
On Sunday, Hadley fired a 67 to get to minus-3 on the weekend. Despite picking up a stroke, he lost out to winner Michael Putnam by two shots. Hadley’s Sunday card featured six birdies to go along with three bogeys. He fired 17 birdies in four rounds in Patomac, but a string of bogeys on the back-nine of the second round held him back.
Putnam's win was his second straight Web.com Tour title. Putnam, the Mexico Open winner last week, earned $108,000 to increase his tour-leading total to $354,234, more than $132,000 in front of No. 2 Edward Loar.
Bronson La'Cassie, Daniel Chopra and Chad Collins followed Hadley's 5-under, all at 3-under. La'Cassie had a 67, Chopra shot 70, and Collins had a 72 on Sunday.
