Local soccer products Nick Millington and Zack Schilawski will return to the Carolina RailHawks for the 2014 season. The pair of former RailHawks U-23’s each enters into their third season with the RailHawks.

Since 2011, the RailHawks have signed 18 players with North Carolina soccer ties, playing youth or collegiate soccer in the state.

“The return of Nick and Zack are key additions to our roster in 2014,” said RailHawks head coach Colin Clarke. “Both will be key leaders on and off the field for our team. They are intelligent players that will help lead the way in bringing a championship to the Triangle.”

Millington, a Raleigh native, returns after a breakout year in 2013 where he appeared in 26 matches and played 2,143 minutes in the RailHawks midfield. In just his second year as a professional, Millington’s intelligent and savvy play led to participating in FIFA World Cup Qualifying with the Guyana National Team. In 4 starts with Guyana, Millington helped the small, Caribbean country to their best campaign of qualifying, advancing to the Fourth Round. In a qualifying match against Mexico, Millington started the match before exiting in the 73rd minute with score tied at 0-0. Mexico would go on to win the match after scoring five goals from the 78th to the 86th minute.

In 2013, Schilawski returned to the field after suffering a broken bone in his foot that prematurely ended his 2012 season. The Cary-native played a career high 1,987 minutes over 27 matches. Schilawski displayed his versatility on the field playing in multiple positions on the field, mostly as a forward or in the midfield. Along with his 2 goals scored, Schilawski finished in the top ten in NASL statistics with 4 assist in 2013.
