Minter era begins at Campbell

Former Carolina Panther and Nebraska defensive back Mike Minter led his first practice as a head coach Wednesday in Buies Creek. "I'm excited, I couldn't sleep all night," said Minter. "I'm probably worse than the players."

The Camels' new coach got a look at his first team, mixing in his first recruiting class with the upperclassmen. "We're going to see what we got in recruiting, see these freshman come in and see the guys work," said Minter. "You had fifty to sixty guys over the summer stay, that's more than they ever had."

Minter was hired on Nov. 27 to coach the Campbell University Camels.

The Camels return 10 offensive starters and six on the defensive side of the ball, but Minter could shake that up if he sees fit. Campbell was picked to finish 8th out of 13 in the Pioneer Conference.

^^^ Campbell University is one of the best schools in the Country. They lead in a few different curricula areas. Minter knows this game, and his players will burst their behinds for him, IMO. Great for the school, the area, and our State. I know a few top Administrators down there. Dr. Jack Britt is one of the best. Dr. Wallace is doing a terrific job too.

Pretty excited to see how having him in "The Creek"(Buies Creek) will change the program. I am hoping it becomes a hub for a great football culture. It's obvious the players are excited and the students, alumni, and community are looking forward to this season. A lot of great things are happening at Campbell University and this is very much a part of it. Go Camels! (CU'13)

Minter is a great guy, and I agree with billybob - being a former Pro coach should help with recruiting - Minter has the cred to be respected by the players.

8th in conference is better than 13th like last year, so that would be a big improvement on their way to even better seasons. Having a former Pro as coach ought to help recruitment going forward. Go Camels! (CU '94)
