Description: Dodgers infielders Nick Punto is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels with a bruised back.
Insight: Punto isn't usually the first guy you think of when talking fantasy, but he's batting .327 with an .817 OPS and eligible at multiple infield positions.

12/13/2012 11:26:00 AM
Description: Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports expects Dodgers infielders Nick Punto and Juan Uribe to be dealt during the offseason.
Insight: Skip Schumaker's arrival as the team's new utility infielder eliminates any need for Punto (.219, 1 HR, 10 RBI) and Uribe (.191, 2 HR, 17 RBI) going forward. We wouldn't expect either player to have any fantasy significance in 2013.

4/10/2012 8:52:00 PM
Description: Nick Punto got the start again for the Red Sox on Tuesday, this time at shortstop for Mike Aviles, who twisted his ankle in Monday's win over the Blue Jays.
Insight: Punto started Sunday in place of struggling Kevin Youkilis and played pretty well (3-6 with 3 RBIs). Even if Punto keeps up at this clip, we don't envision him turning into an everyday player for the Sox unless Youkilis or Aviles miss significant time because of injuries.

4/8/2012 6:22:00 PM
Description: Nick Punto had three hits batting out of the leadoff spot in Sunday's loss to the Tigers.
Insight: Punto's single in the 11th inning would have been the game-winner had Mark Melancon been able to hold on to a two-run lead in the bottom half of the inning. Punto got the start at third base over the slumping Kevin Youkilis (0-8 this season).

Insight: If you own Punto in NL-only leagues plan on him being out for a few days, which makes him a risky play next week.

Description: Nick Punto needs surgery to repair his sports hernia and is expected to miss 8-12 weeks. SOURCE: DERRICK GOOLD
Insight: The Cardinals were counting on him as a utility player, especially to fill in for David Freese some days at 3B. They could be in the market for a veteran infielder.

Description: Cardinals infielder Nick Punto has been diagnosed with a Sports Hernia and will miss the next 2-3 months. SOURCE: MLB BLOGS
Insight: Punto is more known for his glove but the Cards may miss shuffling him into the lineup to spell their starters.

1/21/2011 6:00:00 PM
Description: Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports the Cardinals have signed Punto to a one-year. $700,000 deal.
Insight: Punto should see action at 3B, SS and 2B and given how Cardinals' manager Tony LaRussa likes to use all his players he could see a decent amount of playing time. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Nick Punto has signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals. SOURCE: MATTHEW LEACH
Insight: He will replace Brendan Ryan on the roster as a utility infielder that is better with the glove than the bat. Don't expect much more than a few stolen bases. He could play a little more in April while David Freese comes back from injury.

1/21/2011 10:04:00 AM
Description: The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports the Twins are unlikely to sign Punto.
Insight: Punto has played the past seven seasons for the Twins. No matter where he lands, he's unlikely to be any more than a utility infielder. (RapidDraft.com)

12/7/2010 11:05:00 PM
Description: MLB.com reports the Indians spoke with Punto's representatives on Tuesday.
Insight: Punto offers a good glove and the ability to play multiple positions, but he does not offer much at the plate. Cleveland could want him as potential starting second baseman. (RapidDraft.com)

10/29/2010 11:05:00 AM
Description: Kelly Thesier of MLB.com reports the Twins have declined Punto's $5 million option for 2011.
Insight: Punto hit just .238 in 252 at-bats this season. He should be able to find a home as a utility infielder somewhere this offseason. (RapidDraft.com)

8/16/2010 11:19:00 AM
Description: Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports, via Twitter, that Punto (left hamstring) will return to the Twins on Tuesday.
Insight: The Twins open a big series against the White Sox on Tuesday night. Danny Valencia should still see a lot of playing time at third base. (SportsBuff.com)

Description: Nick Punto was placed on the DL with a strained hamstring. SOURCE: KELLY THESIER ON TWITTER
Insight: Danny Valencia and Alexi Casilla will play everyday for the next two weeks until Punto and/or Orlando Hudson are ready to come back.

7/28/2010 11:23:00 PM
Description: MLB.com reports Punto (left hamstring) left Wednesday's game against the Royals with a hamstring injury.
Insight: The Twins are calling Punto's injury a cramp, and he should be considered day-to-day. He is hitting .251 with one home run and 20 RBI this season, so hopefully this is not big news for your fantasy team. (SportsBuff.com)

6/30/2010 11:07:00 AM
Description: Punto went 1-for-2 with two walks against Detroit on Tuesday night.
Insight: Punto is hitting .295 in June, but is still hitting just .257 on the season and is not a good fantasy option. (SportsBuff.com)

6/7/2010 8:59:00 AM
Description: Punto went 3-for-4 with a stolen base against Oakland on Sunday.
Insight: Punto is only hitting .225 this season, and is not worth fantasy consideration. (SportsBuff.com)

5/27/2010 11:31:00 PM
Description: MLB.com reports Punto (finger) is expected to return to the Twins' starting lineup on Friday against Texas.
Insight: Punto was given a cortisone shot on his middle finger on Sunday and took batting practice on Thursday. (SportsBuff.com)

4/28/2010 10:41:00 PM
Description: Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports, via Twitter, that the Twins expect to activate Punto (groin) from the disabled list on Saturday.
Insight: Punto should move back into regular duty at third base, which would push Brendan Harris back to the bench. (SportsBuff.com)

4/24/2010 1:29:00 AM
Description: Punto (hip) has been placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to April 16 with a right hip flexor strain. (Kelly Thesier of MLB.com)
Insight: Punto would be eligible to return on May 1. Luke Hughes has been called up to take his place on the roster, and Brendan Harris should see the majority of the playing time at third base in Punto's absence. (SportsBuff.com)
