Description: Los Angeles right-hander Josh Beckett left after five innings after injuring his hip while running the bases.
Insight: Pitchers simply shouldn't run bases, only bad things can happen. Seriously, it doesn't appear that it will change his next start, but we will keep on top of it. He had thrown five shut out innings and did get the win.

He had retired 20 hitters in a row prior to walking Jimmy Rollins with two outs in the ninth. Beckett is now 3-1 on the season with a 2.43 ERA in nine starts.

Description: Dodgers manager Don Mattingly indicated that starter Josh Beckett will get the first shot at the fifth starter job, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Insight: Beckett sprained his thumb early in March and is eligible to come off the disabled list on April 4. Unless Clayton Kershaw's back injury proves to be problematic, Los Angeles won't need a fifth starter until mid-April. Beckett missed most of last season due to thoracic outlet syndrome.

He was limited to eight starts by thoracic outlet syndrome surgery.

Description: Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti expects pitcher Josh Beckett (arm) to be ready for spring training, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.
Insight: Beckett missed most of 2013 and hasn't been fantasy worthy since 2011 when he went 13-7 with a stellar 2.89 ERA and 1.026 WHIP. The Dodgers are expected be in the Masahiro Tanaka sweepstakes so they may not even need Beckett in 2014.

Description: Dodgers righthander Josh Beckett isn't ruling out season-ending surgery. SOURCE: Dylan Hernandez, Los Angeles Times
Insight: That's the second report we've heard in the last 24 hours that Beckett's season could be in jeopardy. Usually, where there's smoke there's fire. We wouldn't expect to see Beckett on a baseball diamond anytime soon.
