Interleague Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, August 20 (All times eastern)

Texas Rangers (48-76) at Miami Marlins (62-62), 12:40 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: Texas - Nick Martinez (2-9, 5.27) Miami - Nathan Eovaldi (6-7, 3.96)

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Marlins go after their fourth straight win and a series sweep of the woeful Texas Rangers on Wednesday when they wrap up a two-game set at Marlins Park.

Miami took game one of this series in dramatic fashion on Tuesday, as Giancarlo Stanton's RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning carried the Marlins to a 4-3 win.

Mike Carp's error allowed Jeff Baker to reach base safely with one out in the 10th. After Christian Yelich lined out for the second out, Donovan Solano extended the inning with an infield single.

Neftali Feliz then replaced Neal Cotts (2-7) on the mound to pitch to Stanton, but the move backfired, as the MVP candidate laced a single into right, plating Baker for the game-winning run without a throw.

"We had the right guy there," said Marlins manager Mike Redmond. "He had a heck of an at-bat and hit a bullet to right."

The walk-off single was Stanton's fifth career game-winning hit.

Jarred Cosart turned in six innings of one-run ball, and Sam Dyson (2-0) struck out the side in the top of the 10th to pick up the win.

Miles Mikolas also earned a no-decision in his start for Texas, exiting after five-plus innings. Mikolas gave up three runs on eight hits while fanning six.

"I maybe tried to get a little too contact friendly with two outs and try to get out of there quick," Mikolas said. "It kind of backfired. I got the pitch count up."

Getting the call for the Marlins on Wednesday will be righty Nathan Eovaldi, who has lost four of his last five decisions. Eovaldi lost to St. Louis last Wednesday, as he allowed four runs (2 earned) and eight hits in six innings to fall to 6-7 on the year to go along with a 3.96 ERA.

"I felt like I didn't pick up the team," Eovaldi said. "We had a few errors. But I felt like I just didn't pick them up after that."

Eovaldi, who hasn't won at Marlins Park since May 21, going 0-3 with a 6.38 ERA in eight outings, also received zero run support in the loss to the Cards and, as the Marlins have scored two runs or less seven times in his eight- start home winless stretch.

Texas, meanwhile, will rely on righty Nick Martinez, who is 2-9 with a 5.27 ERA. Martinez lost for the eighth time in nine decisions on Friday to the Los Angeles Angels, as he was tagged for four runs and six hits in six innings.

This visit marks the Rangers' first-ever trip to Marlins Park. The teams split a two-game set at Globe Life Park back in June.
