Description: Kansas City minor league catcher Max Ramirez is pounding the ball this April at Triple-A Omaha. He's batting .300 with five home runs and 20 RBI in 14 games with the Storm Chasers.
Insight: Ramirez could always hit the ball, but his problem is when he squats behind the plate. Considering how poorly Kansas City is hitting the ball right now (.254 batting average, 56 runs in 15 games) they might consider getting his bat in the lineup at another position.

Description: Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports.com reports the Cubs have claimed Ramirez off waivers from the Red Sox.
Insight: Ramirez hit .286 at Triple-A last season, and at age 26 his time as highly-regarded prospect looks to be over. (RapidDraft.com)

Insight: The Red Sox have been interested in Ramirez for more than a year. He will start the year in Triple-A but could be part of their future.

Description: The Rangers have designated Max Ramirez for assignment to make room for Brandon Webb. SOURCE: JON MOROSI
Insight: He is only 26 years old and will certainly catch on with another club. He could still emerge as a number one catcher at some point down the road - catchers are often slow to develop.

Description: Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored on Friday against the Blue Jays.
Insight: Ramirez homered for the second time in his last three games as he is now batting .368 with two home runs and four RBI so far this season in seven games. (SportsBuff.com)

5/13/2010 9:07:00 AM
Description: Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a home run, RBI and a run scored on Wednesday against Oakland.
Insight: Ramirez is 4-for-6 with a home run and two RBI over his last two games. (SportsBuff.com)

Steady3/26/2009 9:52:00 AM
Description: Ramirez was sent down to AAA.
Insight: Ramirez, who is a top prospect, only saw action in three games. He is behind Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Taylor Teagarden on the Ranger depth chart, so the 24-year-old will get some more seasoning. (SportsBuff.com)
