Insight: Chamberlain suffered the injury covering first on an eighth inning ground ball. He's not much of a fantasy value these days with a 1-2 record, nine holds, one save a 3.20 ERA and 1.220 WHIP.

Insight: Once considered a top prospect, Chamberlain has never lived up to the hype, generating just 23 wins across seven seasons in the Bronx. Leaving New York might clear his head a bit but it won't help his fantasy value.

Insight: Chamberlain has never lived up to the hype and it might finally be time for the Yankees to cut their losses and give Joba a change of scenery. He's really struggled this season, collecting a 5.75 ERA in 21 appearances out of the bullpen. Chamberlain can be ignored in all fantasy leagues.

Insight: The Yankees disabled list is awfully crowded. Chamberlain has a 3.86 ERA, but he has walked six batters and allowed 10 hits while striking out seven in 9 1/3 innings and has no fantasy value.

Insight: Chamberlain only made 22 appearances last season because of an ankle injury. He's just a run of the mill middle reliever and shouldn't be owned in fantasy.

Description: Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain looked shaky in his first appearance of the season Wednesday versus the Orioles. He gave up two runs on four hits during the 28-pitch outing.
Insight: At least it's a start. Chamberlain's role in the New York bullpen should increase as he continues to get stronger and more confident after missing the entire first half with an injured ankle (he was also coming off of Tommy John surgery). Even at his best, Chamberlain (10.80 ERA) still won't be worth owning in fantasy.

Description: Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain has been activated from the 60-day disabled list. Chamberlain had Tommy John surgery last season and then broke his ankle in a trampoline accident in March.
Insight: Chamberlain hasn't been with the team for 14 months, but he has reportedly been hitting 95-plus mph on the radar gun with his fastball during his minor league rehab appearances. He won't have much fantasy value at first, but he could be an interesting option if he recaptures his magic from 2007.

Insight: Chamberlain suffered what some doctors deemed a career-threatening ankle injury less than four months ago and also had Tommy John surgery last year. He may be able to rejoin the team in a few weeks, which is pretty remarkable. It would be more remarkable if he ends up having any fantasy value this season, however.

Description: Joba Chamberlain has been released from the hospital following ankle surgery. Chamberlain will wear a cast on his foot for the next six weeks. He is not expected to pitch for the Yankees this season.
Insight: Chamberlain wasn't even fully recovered from his recent Tommy John surgery when he dislocated his ankle jumping on a trampoline with his son on Thursday. The Yankees will find a way to make do without Chamberlain this season and so should you.

Insight: Chamberlain was on pace for a June return from Tommy John surgery, but this throws a huge monkey wrench into the plans. At this point, you shouldn't expect Chamberlain to help your fantasy team in 2012.

Insight: Chamberlain did not allow a base runner and has had solid velocity to start the spring; he could be in line for more of these cheap wins and could be an intriguing play in deeper mixed leagues.

Insight: The Yankees starters are still iffy heading into 2011 and Chamberlain, as the 5th or 6th inning guy, could vulture a good chunk of wins this year.

Insight: Chamberlain's solid spring actually helps the Yankees, as they could include him in a deal for a starting pitcher. Right now, Chamberlain's only value lies in AL-only leagues.

Insight: Unless another team wants to work on a long-term project to turn Chamberlain back into a starter or if someone thinks they can groom him to be a closer then this would be a trade that makes sense. Most likely, he will be working the 7th inning in New York.
