Description: Former Nationals and Twins reliever Matt Capps inked a minor league contract with the Indians on Thursday.
Insight: Injuries limited Capps to just 29 1/3 innings in 2012. If he stays healthy, Capps (3.52 ERA in 444 career games) has a good chance to crack the Tribe's Opening Day roster. As a middle reliever, he won't have much fantasy value.

10/24/2012 4:40:00 PM
Description: Minnesota has declined its 2013 team option on righthander Matt Capps.
Insight: Capps began the season as the Twins' closer but couldn't stay healthy. He appeared in just 30 games in 2012, finishing the year with a 3.68 ERA in 29 1/3 innings pitched. Now Capps will become a free agent and should find work again rather easily given his solid track record (138 saves since 2006).

9/24/2012 3:17:00 PM
Description: Twins reliever Matt Capps has been activated from the 15-day disabled list, though there's no guarantee he returns to the closer role.
Insight: Hard-throwing lefty Glen Perkins has 10 saves, a 1.57 ERA and 0.59 WHIP since the All-Star break, and Capps wasn't exactly lights out prior to going on the disabled list with rotator cuff irritation.

7/17/2012 8:01:00 PM
Description: Twins reliever Matt Capps has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with irritation in his right rotator cuff, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.
Insight: Capps (1-4, 3.81 ERA, 14 saves) had just returned from the disabled list several days ago, but evidently this wasn't just routine soreness. He'll have an MRI to determine the severity of his injury.

7/17/2012 6:10:00 PM
Description: Twins reliever Matt Capps reported feeling lingering soreness in his right shoulder Tuesday, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.
Insight: Capps (1-4, 3.81 ERA, 14 saves) returned from the disabled list several days ago, so this may just be some routine soreness as he gets used to throwing at full strength again. He'll see team doctors to determine the cause of the soreness.

7/15/2012 3:39:00 PM
Description: Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire says reliever Matt Capps is close to returning to his role as the team's full-time closer.
Insight: Capps (1-4, 3.29 ERA, 14 saves) missed some time with a shoulder injury so Saturday's scoreless outing against Oakland was his first appearance for the Twins since June 23. Glen Perkins (1-1, 3.11 ERA, four saves) was used as Minnesota's primary closer while Capps was on the DL.

7/12/2012 2:17:00 PM
Description: Twins closer Matt Capps (shoulder) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Capps (1-4, 3.42 ERA) will re-assume his role as Minnesota's closer, though he may be a trade target for contending teams later this month.

7/7/2012 5:25:00 PM
Description: Twins closer Matt Capps (shoulder) may be able to return to the closer role as the team opens the second half of the season next Friday, provided all goes well during his minor league rehab assignment.
Insight: Capps (1-4, 3.42 ERA) will pitch Monday and Wednesday with Class-A Fort Myers while the Twins are on the All-Star break.

6/25/2012 8:47:00 PM
Description: Twins closer Matt Capps has been placed on the DL because of right shoulder tendinitis.
Insight: Capps (1-4, 3.42 ERA) reinjured himself in a game against the Reds on Saturday. An MRI on Capps' shoulder didn't reveal anything too serious so hopefully the Minnesota righthander can return from the DL when he is first eligible to.

6/24/2012 6:36:00 PM
Description: Minnesota closer Matt Capps is still dealing with shoulder soreness. Capps made his first appearance in over a week Saturday against the Reds, allowing one run and one hit in one inning of work.
Insight: Capps could be headed to the DL following this most recent setback. Look for Glen Perkins (1-1, 2.93 ERA) to be the Twins' primary closer in Capps' absence.

6/22/2012 6:11:00 PM
Description: Minnesota closer Matt Capps could be available Friday against the Reds. Capps has been out since last Saturday with shoulder soreness.
Insight: Capps (1-4, 3.55 ERA), who is dealing with right shoulder inflammation, has saved 14 games in 15 chances. The closer threw before Wednesday's game against the Pirates and felt a lot better, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said.

6/20/2012 11:28:00 AM
Description: Minnesota closer Matt Capps is questionable for Wednesday's game against Pittsburgh. He's still battling a sore shoulder.
Insight: Capps (1-4, 3.55 ERA), who hasn't pitched since Friday has converted 14 saves in 15 chances. Either Jared Burton and Glen Perkins will get any save opportunities in Capps absence.

6/19/2012 8:26:00 PM
Description: Minnesota closer Matt Capps won't pitch against the Pirates on Tuesday. He's still battling a sore shoulder.
Insight: Capps (1-4, 3.55 ERA) hasn't pitched since Friday. It looks like he's still a few days away from resuming his closer duties.

6/17/2012 2:32:00 PM
Description: Twins closer Matt Capps won't be available to pitch Sunday against Milwaukee. Capps is struggling with a sore shoulder.
Insight: Capps let up a game-winning homer Friday night in his most recent outing. Despite the bad outing, his ERA sits at a decent if unspectacular 3.55 and he has converted 14 of his 15 save chances this season, including five in a row. For now, think of Capps as day-to-day.

5/27/2012 9:28:00 PM
Description: Matt Capps blew his first save of the season Sunday in a 4-3 loss to the Tigers.
Insight: Capps surrendered the lead on a two-run homer by Miguel Cabrera. The Minnesota righthander is now 9-for-10 in save opportunities, which seems impressive but really, Capps hasn't been all that great this season. He already has three losses, no wins, an ERA of 4.00 and he's striking out batters at an extremely low rate (just 9 Ks in 18 innings this year). At least he isn't walking anybody: Capps has only allowed one free pass all season.

6/18/2011 9:32:00 PM
Description: Matt Capps locked down save number eleven in one scoreless frame, striking out one also.
Insight: Third straight day Capps has notched a save and looked good again today in doing so.

5/26/2011 7:35:00 AM
Description: After blowing his last two saves, Twins RP Matt Capps was held out of his second straight day yesterday with forearm soreness. SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
Insight: If Joe Nathan happens to be available on your waiver wire now would be a good time to grab him.

5/11/2011 3:58:00 PM
Description: Twins closer Matt Capps blew his second save of the season, giving up 3 runs to Detroit in 1 2/3 innings of work.
Insight: Joe Nathan has not been lights out for the Twins, so Capps should still keep the closer role.

4/18/2011 8:52:00 PM
Description: Twins closer Matt Capps allowed a solo HR in the 9th inning but still picked up the save for the Twins.
Insight: Luckily Capps entered the game with a 3-run lead. He has not been exceptional this season so if he has another few outings like this Joe Nathan could be back as the closer quickly.

4/17/2011 8:15:00 PM
Description: New Twins closer Matt Capps converted his save chance tonight against the Rays.
Insight: Capps allowed runs in his last two appearances but responded well after being named the official closer. Expect Joe Nathan to get the closer's job back at some point so enjoy as many saves as Capps can give you.
